Items too large or heavy to fit into your bin should not be forced in as this can either:
1. Crack your bin;
2. Attract unwanted pests by preventing the lid from closing;
3. Mean your rubbish can’t get picked up on bin day; and/or
4. Cause damage/failure to the mechanism that empties your rubbish into the truck.
Instead, you can always drop the item off at a community recycling centre or waste facility where it can either be recycled or disposed of correctly.
