Hi Matilda,

Thank you for your recycling enquiry about broken glass.

Broken glass should not be placed in your kerbside recycling bin in the Tea Tree Gully council area. This includes broken drinking glasses, cookware (like Pyrex), window glass, and mirrors — as they are made from different materials than bottles and jars and can contaminate the recycling stream.

Instead, please:

  • Wrap the glass carefully in newspaper or place it in a rigid container.

  • Seal and label it as “broken glass” to keep waste collectors safe.

  • Then place it in your general waste bin.

If you’re dealing with large sheets or quantities of broken glass, contact your local council for safe drop-off advice or disposal services.

Thank you for getting in touch — and stay safe when handling broken glass!

Thanks Murphy
