Hi Aoife,

Thank you for your enquiry about electronic packaging.

Electronic packaging, such as boxes, plastic inserts, and foam, is generally not accepted in your kerbside recycling bin. Most kerbside systems are designed to process everyday rigid packaging like bottles, jars, and containers, and these types of packaging materials often cannot be processed and can cause contamination.

If the packaging is cardboard or paper-based and clean and dry, it can usually be recycled in your paper recycling bin. However, plastic inserts, foam padding, or mixed-material packaging should be disposed of in your general waste bin unless you find a local recycling program that accepts these materials.

We recommend checking with your local council for any special recycling or waste disposal services for electronic packaging in your area.

Thank you again for reaching out to Recycle Mate. Please feel free to contact us anytime with more recycling questions.

Thanks Murphy
