Hi again Jenny
Thank you for sending your image through, a picture is worth a thousand words!
Electronic transformers can not be disposed of in any of your household’s kerbside bins.
Electrical equipment contains potentially hazardous and valuable materials, which don‘t belong in landfill. Only good quality equipment that still works should be taken to a charity shop. Equipment that no longer works should be taken to a nominated drop-off point.
Our team has completed a check on your behalf, in your local council area electronic transformers are accepted for recycling at the following locations:
- Cessnock Library - 65-67 Vincent St, Cessnock
- Kurri Kurri Library - Cnr Lang & Allworth Streets, Kurri Kurri
- Cessnock Waste Management Centre - 1967 Old Maitland Rd, Cessnock
Otherwise, if it is a battery-operated device and the battery can be removed, you can dispose of the casing in your general waste bin and drop the batteries off at any of the above locations. You can also try searching the type of battery (eg. AAA battery) in the Recycle Mate app to find your nearest recycling drop-off points.
I hope this helps. Thank you for your enquiry, every question helps us build a stronger platform for providing better recycling solutions in Australia.
Please reach out to us again at Recycle Mate any time with your recycling questions.
