Hi Carolyn

Thank you for your question, we receive a lot of questions about whether medicine blister packs are recyclable due to the plastic and aluminium content of the packaging.

No matter your location in Australia, medicine blister packs are not recyclable in your household recycling bin.

Empty blister packs are, however, accepted for recycling at hundreds of locations across Australia. Check Recycle Mate to find your closest drop-off point to ensure the valuable aluminium and plastic in blister packs can be recovered!

Any unused or old medicine must be returned to an approved collection point for safe disposal - never dispose of old medicine down the sink, toilet or as general waste.  Use Recycle Mate to find your nearest location to drop-off unwanted medicine.

Thank you for your recycling enquiry. Please feel free to get in touch with Recycle Mate again any time.
