Hi Chantelle,

Thank you for your recycling question. Guidelines for recycling or safely disposing of different types of glass vary widely across Australia, so it’s great that you’ve reached out to us.

In your local government area, microwave glass plates are not accepted in the kerbside recycling bin.

Many glass products contain additives that are not recyclable when mixed with food and beverage bottles and jars. These items contaminate the glass recycling process and can result in loads being rejected and sent to landfill.

Please carefully wrap your microwave glass plate in scrap newspaper and place it in your general waste bin.

Thank you for contacting Recycle Mate. Please feel free to reach out anytime with your recycling enquiries.
