Spray or pump dispensers on plastic bottles—like those for cosmetics or soaps—should be removed before recycling because they are made of mixed materials (plastic, metal, springs) that recycling facilities can’t process properly. Leaving them on can contaminate recycling batches and damage sorting machinery. These dispensers should be placed in the general waste instead.
