Hi Laura
Thank you for your enquiry. Some brands of pool noodles have the “recycling triangle” on them, which is actually a resin identification code – this can make properly disposing of pool noodles and other floating toys very confusing!
Pool noodles and other floating pool toys are not recyclable in the home kerbside recycling bin. The kerbside recycling system is designed to handle your everyday packaging waste like disposable bottles, jars and containers, so other plastic household items are unable to be processed.
Use these fun floating toys for as long as possible before placing them in your general waste bin.
If your pool noodle is in good condition that’s suitable for resale use Recycle Mate to find a charity shop or other location nearby accepting donations.
There are many DIY re-uses for pool noodles from floating drink holders to baby-proofing, however, unfortunately we have yet to hear of any recycling options. If you happen to find any local recycling or re-use options, we would love to hear about it!
Thank you for getting in touch. Please feel free reach out if you have any other questions.
