Pyrex and other heat-resistant glass items can't be recycled through kerbside programs because:
-
They’re made from borosilicate glass, which has a much higher melting point than regular glass used in bottles and jars.
-
When mixed with ordinary glass during recycling, Pyrex can cause imperfections in the new products, leading to quality issues.
-
Even small amounts can contaminate an entire batch, causing it to be rejected and sent to landfill.
It’s best to reuse or dispose of broken Pyrex in your general waste bin.
Kind regards,
Murphy
