Hi Gary

Thank you for your recycling question.

The “scratchie” you were searching for is a great example of community language and the different names we all use for everyday household items. We currently have “Instant scratchie” listed in the Recycle Mate database, however, we will review this with the team to add other terms like “scratchie” and “scratch-and-win” to ensure future users find what they’re looking for.

The scratchie in your photo can not be disposed of in your kerbside recycling bin. The kerbside recycling system is designed to handle your everyday packaging waste like disposable bottles, jars and containers, so other plastic household items are unable to be processed.

Unfortunately, we are not aware of any other recycling opportunities for scratchies in your local area so you’ll need to dispose of it in your general waste bin at home.

Thank you for reaching out to Recycle Mate. Every question like yours helps us build a stronger platform for providing better recycling solutions.
