Hi Karen,

Thanks for your recycling question. Every enquiry helps us build a stronger platform for better recycling solutions.

Reverse Garbage Queensland accepts a wide range of items that are still in good condition, including trophies. However, their website mentions they have been inundated with donations recently, so please contact them at 07 3891 9744 before dropping off items at their Woolloongabba warehouse. Another option we found is ‘Sproule Trophies’ in Merrylands, NSW, which accepts trophies, though it may not be local to you.

Alternatively, you might try posting your trophies on community Facebook groups, Facebook Marketplace, or Gumtree. Sometimes people like to repurpose trophies creatively (like for humorous workplace awards). You could also check with the schools or sports clubs that gave you the trophies to see if they’d be interested in taking them back.

If donating or re-using isn’t possible, trophies will likely need to be disposed of in your general waste bin or taken to a local resource recovery centre. Some resource centres may sell donated items through Council Treasure Trove shops (formerly tip shops). It’s best to call ahead to confirm acceptance.

As recycling technologies improve, we hope more options for trophies will become available.

I hope this helps! Please reach out anytime if you have more questions.

Thanks,
Murphy
